Extractions are performed for a wide variety of reasons, but most commonly to remove teeth when absolutely nothing can be done. Our office leaves extractions as the very last resort, as there are many long term benefits to maintaining natural teeth. However, if the teeth are unrestorable due to tooth decay, loose due to gum disease or they are broken badly and especially when they are also associated with a lot of pain, then extraction may be the best course of action. If it is deemed necessary, we will ensure that the area is optimally prepared for replacement prosthesis such as a restored dental implant, dental bridge or denture.
